RE - ACT ASSOCIATION
Lyuben will provide social and professional integration of youths under institutional care for deviant behavior by establishing social enterprise for bicycles manufacturing
In Bulgaria, institutionalized children and youths with a criminal background do not receive enough support to fully integrate into society, both socially and professionally. They often lack the soft skills to succeed after being institutionalized and feel rejected by society. Because of this, they have no motivation to develop themselves through education and work, and instead commit more crimes that lead to imprisonment. This cycle of institutionalization not only negatively affects the individual’s life but also the lives of families, friends, and possible victims.
The Re-Act association provides opportunities for youths with a criminal background to socially and professionally integrate into society after they had been institutionalized. Through working directly with the target group and implementing advocacy changes, Re-Act offers practical workshops and social skills training to children housed in Correctional Boarding School Angel Uzunov in Rakitovo. These youths are also offered an opportunity to work in their first paid job in a social enterprise for bicycle manufacturing.
